In the context of the 26th Oltner Tanztage Lucas won the Newcomer Award (Newcomer-Förderpreis).

4 young choreographers were in the running for this year’s Newcomer Prize. As part of Tanzfaktor, a project of Reso – Tanznetzwerk Schweiz, they are each given the opportunity to show their short piece on tour. The Tanztage is part of this tour.

Among the choreographers of two ensembles from Basel and one each from Geneva and Lucerne, the four-member jury singled out choreographer Lucas del Rio Estévez (Basel) and his work “Search”. The artistic director of the Tanztage, Ursula Berger, had already described his choreography as “brilliantly unifying” in the run-up to the festival.
